Beautiful Marlborough Wedding…
Born and bred in Blenheim, Conan was a St Mary’s boy who swam and played underwater hockey competitively and Carla was a country girl who loved to read books. After briefly dating as teenagers, Carla moved away to live in Otago for a few years while Conan continued to live and work in Marlborough.
Upon her return to Blenheim, Carla ran into Conan one day at the entrance of New World. He had changed a bit in the few years since they last talked and being an electrician, was basically covered from head to toe in work grime. It took Carla a few minutes to figure out who this enthusiastic person smiling at her was. They exchanged numbers and soon found out that a few years apart had changed them both for the better and so a beautiful relationship was born.
Spruced up in a new shirt and clean shoes, Conan took Carla on their first official date to see Jimeion live on stage. They both really enjoy comedy and this has become one of their special things to do whenever someone new is in town.
Over the next dew years, three beautiful children came along and Conan decided it was about time he poped the question. He whisked Carla away to Nelson for her birthday, booked her into an escape massage then took her to a favorite restaurant.
It was the same restaurant he had taken her to 8 years prior, which had been fancier than either of them imagined and under dressed, they had felt quite out of place. This time they arrived for dinner and had a few giggles because the place had been given a makeover with a more casual bistro setting. Being over dressed this time it wasn’t quite how they imagined the scene, but never less the night couldn’t have been more perfect when Conan proposed and Carla said ‘YES’.
Best man Steve has been a great friend of Conan’s since their teenage years and growing up in Blenheim together, I’ve heard they got up to a little mischief. They’re now both professionals and family men but still remain best friends who enjoy the odd whiskey together and so that’s how the morning started.
Son’s Daeman and Dylan were looking very smart in their wedding attire, suspenders and all.
And mum and dad were the proudest parents ever; their only son was getting married today.
Conan is a really great guy, chilled, genuine and down to earth.
Next stop was to see the girls where a lot of girly goodness was going on. The wedding bouquet from Pink Poppie Designer Florist was just fabulous.
Carla was just getting the finishing touches of her makeup done by Amber-Louise Makeup Artistry and looking gorgeous, she was super excited to get her beautiful dress on from Lainee Hermsen Bridal Design in Nelson.
Three year old Brydie was also loving this special girly time with her mum.
Big hugs with bridesmaid Natalie who has been friends with Carla for many years, even being there for the birth of her first child.
Loving those special moments with mum!
Conan and Carla had planned on walking up the isle together, but firstly we had to do the ‘first look’…
Conan was gob smacked.
The wedding ceremony was held on the grounds of the Marlborough Vintners Hotel and the wedding celebrant today was the lovely Carolie Holdaway.
Following their three children, best man and bridesmaid, Conan and Carla walked up the isle hand in hand through a crowd of smiling happy faces.
The ceremony started with a hand binding.
Carla is Conan’s perfect companion and he loves going on long treks through the bush with her. He enjoys the comfortable silence over morning coffee and discussing all things science, tech, religion and politics without fear of offence. He loves that he gets to share his life with her every day.
Carla loves that Conan is this amazing, rational, logical, patient, intelligent, talented, capable, beautiful, practical person, who always sees the best in her. He is everything she hopes their children will grow up to be.
“I pledge to love you always, trust you completely, and to be your equal in all things. Wherever life takes us, I give you my hand and my heart, today and for all our days”.
Meet the new Mr and Mrs O’Boyle!
After the hugs and family photos, Conan, Carla and their bridal party jumped into two very awesome vintage cars from Omaka Classic Cars and we headed to the amazing Hortensia House and Gardens for location photos.
So much loveliness!
We had the pleasure of photographing Natalie about 6 years ago in another wedding party. It’s always nice to see familiar faces again.
Pink Poppie Florist you rock!
Celebrating good times!
They were lovely, the light was lovely, the gardens were lovely and every precious moment we captured was lovely.
Two photographers, two perspectives!
We just adore Hortensia Gardens. With so many cool features in the grounds it really is a photographers heaven.
Precious love right here!
The wedding reception venue at the Marlborough Vintners looked incredible. Conan, Carla, Carla’s mother Anne and the bridal party had set it up the day before and the guys completely outdid themselves when they put up the pallet wall and lights; it was very romantic.
After Conan and Carla cut their delicious wedding cake made by Melissa Rae at Sweet Creations in Blenheim, Daron and I said our goodbyes and headed back over the hill to Nelson with happy hearts.
Conan and Carla, it was such a pleasure photographing your special day and we wish you both much happiness and many cherished years ahead as your family grows.
