Ethan & Shana Married!
Ethan and Shana are the cutest couple. They had originally planned to marry a year ago, but something really exciting happened instead – Shana fell pregnant. So they postponed their wedding and gorgeous wee Eva came along. Here we are a year later and today was perfect, a double blessing, and we were delighted to be capturing many special moments for this young family.
We first met Shana 3 years ago when she was a bridesmaid for one of our brides Abby. Abby loves weddings so much that she became a wedding celebrant and we were excited that she was officiating Ethan and Shana’s wedding today. It’s always lovely to catch up with our couples as so many are starting families of their own now.
There’s no place quite like home and so Ethan and his groomsmen got ready at his parents house in Wakefield. This stunning property is on a farm where Norm and Vikki breed angora goats, it was the perfect place for their wedding ceremony. Ethan’s mother Vikki is a very keen gardener and the gardens were just immaculate with sweet smelling scents delighting us around every corner.
Vikki was hard at work draping flowers from the pagoda archway when we arrived. Everything looked so pretty and peaceful in this tranquil setting.
Meet the boys; Duane, Nick, Ethan and Harry. There were non stop smiles and banter as they helped each other get ready for the big day.
The final touches!
They’re such a great bunch of guys and we had no end of fun this morning.
On the wedding day I’m a self appointed, ‘beer police’, especially with the guys. Truth be-known, I don’t think they really listen to me anyway hehe.
Looking very dapper boys!
Ethan’s two brothers came along and got in on the act as well, haha.
Shana and the girls got ready at Dunpuffin Cottages in Wakefield. These cute wee cottages were constructed from a nostalgic 1931 railway carriage.
My favorite kind of wedding with so many pretty things to photograph.
Shana was looking absolutely gorgeous in her stunning wedding gown from Parkland Bridal.
And check out those shoes – very very nice!
Time to get wee Eva dressed….
Eva is the apple of her mum’s eye!
We headed outside for some photos with the girls and found this pond with the most amazing reflection.
The blue of the bridesmaid dresses looked stunning against the greenery.
And before we knew it, it was ceremony time and the guys were looking very relaxed as the guests arrived.
The trio of old cars looked absolutely fabulous coming up the driveway.
Ethan looked as proud as punch as Shana walked up the isle. This is such a magical moment.
About 9 years ago Shana was working as a checkout operator when Ethan happened to come down her lane. They met again at the after party of their school ball and Shana used the pickup line “hey, you came down my lane”. She got his number which was followed by an atrocious first date and that was that, until they met again and started dating 4 years later.
When Ethan whisked Shana away to Kimiora Resort for a romantic weekend, she had no idea an engagement proposal was being planned. They had a lovely dinner at Kaiteri and while Shana was in the shower, Ethan drew the curtains and laid out a circle of 6 beautiful roses with candles in between. As Shana stepped into the candle lit room, Ethan got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. How could a girl say no to that!
Ethan and Shana love each othe’s humour and how they constantly support each other. They live here on the farm next door to Ethan’s parents and one of their favorite things is kid season. They love watching the baby goats playing and hand raising any that need a helping hand. I’m sure Eva’s going to love it this year now that she’s a little older.
Sealed with a kiss….
Hello Mr and Mrs Johnston.
Hugs, hugs and more hugs – love it!
While the guests enjoyed delicious food and drinks we headed away for location shots to a rural property which a friend of ours kindly gave us permission to use.
We love alpacas, they have such cute wee faces and they’re so extremely inquisitive.
This stunning old macracarpa tree made a great setting for photos.
There was a bit of hill climbing involved but the girls managed to navigate their way through the long meadow grass.
It was absolutely stunning up here, the climb was worth it.
Shana and I both had open shoes on and unfortunately we realised too late that we had walked through stinging nettle to get under these trees. Oops, thank goodness the stinging didn’t last too long and I’m sure it will be something Shana laughs about now.
Lovely bridal party, we always like to make a wedding day as much fun as we can.
Must have the classic car shot!
Ethan and Shana got greeted into the reception at the Tahuna Function Centre with clapping and cheers. The night had just begun.
Lucy from Lucy Lu’s Cake Designs is a very talented lady, check the cake out!
The cake topper was also very appropriate as rugby is a big thing in the Johnston household with Ethan playing and Shana cheering him on.
There was lots of laughter during the speeches and then Ethan and Shana shared some exciting news – yes baby number two will be arriving in June this year.
Awww, so precious.
Daron’s favorite thing is taking a bride and groom out into the sunset, so he was very happy when he spotted this amazing sky.
Thank you Ethan and Shana, we enjoyed being a part of your beautiful wedding day and excited to meet your new bubs one day. Enjoy your wee family and all the very best.
Chrissy and Daron x
